According to AHL by-laws, only those 22 players listed on a team’s Clear Day roster are eligible to compete in the remainder of the AHL regular season and in the 2011 Calder Cup Playoffs, unless emergency conditions arise as a result of recall, injury or suspension. Teams may also add signed junior players or players on amateur tryout contracts after their respective junior or college seasons are complete.
The Griffins’ Clear Day roster consists of goaltenders Joey MacDonald and Jordan Pearce; defensemen Greg Amadio, Travis Ehrhardt, Doug Janik, Sergei Kolosov, Brian Lashoff, Derek Meech, Logan Pyett and Brendan Smith; and forwards Joakim Andersson, Cory Emmerton, Ilari Filppula, Jamie Johnson, Adam Keefe, Chris Minard, Jan Mursak, Francis Pare, Brent Raedeke, Brandon Straub, Jamie Tardif and Tomas Tatar. In addition, injured forward Jordan Owens and backup goaltender Jimmy Spratt are currently in residence.
In order to place him on their Clear Day roster, the Griffins released Keefe from his pro tryout and signed him to a standard player’s contract. In 25 games with Grand Rapids this season, he has totaled five points (3-2—5) and 71 penalty minutes.
