GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Tomas Tatar, fellow Griffins alum Tomas Kopecky and Slovakia will play Russia in Sunday's gold-medal game of the 2012 IIHF World Championship in Helsinki, Finland. Slovakia earned the chance at gold with Saturday's 3-1 win over the Czech Republic, while Russia eliminated host Finland and former Griffin Valtteri Filppula by a 6-2 count.

Thursday's quarterfinal action:

- 6 a.m. ET - Helsinki - Canada (Kyle Quincey) 3 vs. Slovakia (Tomas Kopecky, Tomas Tatar) 4
- 8:45 a.m. ET - Stockholm - Russia 5 vs. Norway (Ole-Kristian Tollefsen) 2
- 11:30 a.m. ET - Helsinki - United States (Justin Abdelkader, Jimmy Howard) 2 vs. Finland (Valtteri Filppula) 3
- 2:15 p.m. ET - Stockholm - Sweden (Jonathan Ericsson, Niklas Kronwall) 3 vs. Czech Republic 4

Saturday's semifinal round:

- 7:30 a.m. ET - Helsinki - Russia 6 vs. Finland (Valtteri Filppula) 2
- 11:30 a.m. ET - Helsinki - Czech Republic 1 vs. Slovakia (Tomas Kopecky, Tomas Tatar) 3
