Had Two Points in First Two NHL Games with Detroit

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.
The Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League on Saturday announced that defenseman Brett Lebda has been assigned to the club by the Detroit Red Wings.

Lebda, 23, made his NHL debut with Detroit on Wednesday, scoring his first NHL goal against Patrick Lalime midway through the Red Wings 5-1 win over St. Louis. He added an assist in Thursdays 4-3 road victory against the Blues, giving him two points (1-12), a plus-three rating and 18:40 in average ice time for his first two NHL games.

One of two players to appear in all 80 games for Grand Rapids during the 2004-05 season, Lebda finished his rookie campaign with 12 points (2-1012).

Lebda is expected to be in the Griffins lineup tonight when they host the Milwaukee Admirals for their 10th Anniversary Opening Night presented by Comcast. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
