FOURNIER JOINS GRIFFINS
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Detroit Red Wings on Thursday reassigned defenseman Gleason Fournier (FOHR-nyay) from the Toledo Walleye (ECHL) to the Grand Rapids Griffins.
The 20-year-old Fournier, Detroit’s fourth choice (90th overall) in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, is tied for 11th among ECHL defenseman in scoring with eight points (2-6—8) in 12 games for the Walleye. The Rimouski, Quebec, native capped off a four-year career in the QMJHL with the Rimouski Oceanic last season by tallying 44 points (12-32—44) in 57 games.
Fournier is expected to make his AHL debut on Friday at 7 p.m. as the Griffins welcome the San Antonio Rampage to kick off a season-high five-game homestand at Van Andel Arena. Tickets are still available at griffinshockey.com.
