FERRARO REJOINS
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Detroit Red Wings on Monday assigned right wing Landon Ferraro to the Grand Rapids Griffins.
Detroit’s first choice (32nd overall) in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, Ferraro has tallied 28 points (13-15—28) and 44 penalty minutes in 60 appearances with Grand Rapids this season. The 22-year-old Ferraro has spent the last three full seasons and part of a fourth (2009-10) with the Griffins, notching 95 points (46-49—95) and 135 PIM in 190 career AHL games. In the 2012-13 campaign, he led the Griffins with 24 goals, finished third on the team with 47 points (24-23—47) and paced the AHL with seven shorthanded points (3-4—7).
A native of Trail, British Columbia, Ferraro made his NHL debut with the Wings on March 18 in a 3-2 victory versus the Toronto Maple Leafs. During his time in the NHL, the 6-foot, 182-pound Ferraro skated in four games with Detroit, registering two shots on goal and two PIM.
The Griffins will hit the road to face the Rockford IceHogs at BMO Harris Bank Center on Friday at 8 p.m. EDT, before returning home to Van Andel Arena for a rematch against the IceHogs on Saturday at 7 p.m. Grand Rapids’ three-in-three will conclude with a road game against the Milwaukee Admirals on Sunday at 6 p.m. EDT.
