GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.Rob Snitzer, who has served as the Grand Rapids Griffins’ medical therapist since the team’s inception in 1996, will depart the organization on Aug. 20 to start a new chapter in his career.

One of only four current staff members who has been with the Griffins throughout all 14 seasons, Snitzer has accepted a position as a West Michigan-based orthopedic sales consultant for Dynasplint, a Maryland manufacturer of orthopedic products that specializes in helping patients restore range of motion.

Snitzer was responsible for the physical health and well-being of all Griffins players for 1,222 regular season and playoff games, working with team doctors to direct the rehabilitation of injured players. He also served as therapy consultant for the Grand Rapids Rampage during that team’s inaugural 1998 season.

“Rob has been a wonderful asset to our organization both on and off the ice,” said Bob McNamara, the Griffins’ general manager who hired Snitzer in 1996. “He has always conducted himself with a tremendous amount of professionalism and will certainly be missed. On behalf of our entire organization, I thank him for 14 years of loyal service and wish him nothing but success in the future.”

Before coming to Grand Rapids, Snitzer served with the AHL’s Prince Edward Island Senators from 1993-96. A Montreal native who holds degrees from Vanier College and Sheridan College, he has also worked with the AHL’s Moncton Hawks and the St. Michael’s Buzzers Jr. B club, as well as the Montreal Junior Concordes and McGill University football teams.
