MILWAUKEE– Jeremy Williams’ two goals in the opening 1:18 of the third period lifted the Grand Rapids Griffins to a 2-1 come-from-behind victory over the Milwaukee Admirals at the Bradley Center on Sunday.

Williams finished the season with a team-leading 32 tallies, putting him in an eighth place tie for the highest single-season total in Grand Rapids history, and the most by a Griffin since the 2005-06 campaign.

The win gave Grand Rapids (34-39-3-4) its first regular season series win over Milwaukee (41-30-2-7) in four years, as they finished with a 4-2-0-0 record against their rivals from Suds City and improved to 6-8-0-0-0 all-time in season finales.

Milwaukee’s Ryan Thang snapped a scoreless tie at 3:53 of the middle frame. From the right circle of his defensive zone, he chipped the puck around a group of defenders, skated the length of the ice and unloaded a snap shot into the top left corner of the net from the respective side of the rink.

In the third period, Williams started his barrage by storming into the Admirals’ zone in a two-on-two rush with Jordan Owens. The two beat the defense with a give-and-go that ended with Williams tapping the disc in from the bottom of the right circle at the :27 mark. Mattias Ritola then drew a tripping penalty, and on the ensuing opportunity he set up Williams at the bottom of the left circle for a sharp-angle shot which he rifled into the top of the cage for the eventual game-winner.

Grand Rapids converged in one of its two power play chances, while Milwaukee failed on one attempt.

Daniel Larsson recorded 27 saves for the win, while Chet Pickard stopped 22 shots in the Milwaukee loss.

Three Stars: 1. GR Williams (2 goals); 2. MIL Thang (1 goal); 3. GR Larsson (27 saves).
