EMMERTON BOUND FOR DETROIT
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Detroit Red Wings on Monday recalled center Cory Emmerton from the Grand Rapids Griffins.
A native of St. Thomas, Ontario, Emmerton has garnered 35 points (14-21—35) in 43 games with the Griffins this season, ranking fourth on the team in scoring. Detroit’s first choice (41st overall) in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft, Emmerton has also competed in 11 contests with Detroit, recording two assists. The 6-foot, 198-pound center has appeared in 132 career NHL games with the Wings since 2010-11, earning 21 points (12-9—21) and 22 penalty minutes, while posting 146 points (48-98—146) and 80 PIM in 260 career games with Grand Rapids.
The Red Wings will face the Columbus Blue Jackets at Nationwide Arena tomorrow at 7 p.m. EDT.
The Griffins will embark on a season-high seven-game road trip this week, stopping first to battle the San Antonio Rampage on Thursday, followed by consecutive games against the Oklahoma City Barons on Friday and Saturday. All three games will begin at 8 p.m. EDT.
