GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Detroit Red Wings on Friday recalled right wing Patrick Eaves and center Luke Glendening from the Grand Rapids Griffins and assigned center Cory Emmerton to their AHL affiliate.

Eaves, 29, has appeared in 417 regular season games over the course of nine NHL seasons with Ottawa, Carolina and Detroit, producing 141 points (72-69—141) and 145 penalty minutes. Originally the Ottawa Senators’ first selection (29th overall) in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, the 6-foot, 187-pound forward signed with Detroit as a free agent on Aug. 4, 2009. The Calgary, Alberta, native has skated in 175 games with Detroit since 2009, notching 51 points (27-24—51) and 46 PIM, including three scoreless games this season. Eaves has played in eight games with the Griffins, notching six points (4-2—6), a plus-one rating and eight penalty minutes. Prior to skating with Grand Rapids, Eaves had played in 18 career AHL games, all with the Binghamton Senators, where he recorded 13 points (5-8—13) during the 2005-06 season.

Glendening, a 24-year-old native of East Grand Rapids, made his debut with the Wings on Oct. 12 versus Philadelphia, when he became the 133rd Griffins alumnus to play in the NHL. The 5-foot-11, 195-pound forward has appeared in eight games with the Wings, posting eight shots on goal and two penalty minutes. Glendening has also skated in 17 games with the Griffins during his second professional season, producing 10 points (3-7—10) and 16 penalty minutes.

Emmerton, 25, has appeared in 18 contests with the Griffins this season, registering 14 points (3-11—14), a plus-five rating and 10 penalty minutes. The St. Thomas, Ontario, native is on an active four-game point streak with Grand Rapids, tallying five points since Nov. 20. He also recorded a four-game point streak from Oct. 26-Nov.1. The 6-foot, 198-pound center has made nine appearances with Detroit this season, recording two points (0-2—2) and four penalty minutes. Emmerton has skated in 130 games with the Red Wings since the 2010-11 season, producing 21 points (12-9—21). Prior to this season’s stint with Grand Rapids, Emmerton made 217 appearances with the Griffins from 2006-11, recording 111 points (34-77-111) and 66 penalty minutes.

The Wings will return home to Joe Louis Arena tomorrow night to battle the Pittsburgh Penguins at 7 p.m., when Eaves and Glendening will be available to play.

The Griffins (17-5-1-1) will take on the Milwaukee Admirals at 7 p.m. tonight in the first of back-to-back games at Van Andel Arena this weekend.
