cc13_primary.jpgHomecoming Dates

Yesterday, the Griffins announced that their first home playoff game will be on Wednesday, May 1 at 7 p.m.

The Griffins will start their best-of-five first-round series against a to-be-determined opponent with two games on the road, before hosting the final three games of the series. If necessary following Game 3, Grand Rapids would host Game 4 on Friday, May 3 and Game 5 on Saturday, May 4.

Locked and Loaded

Regardless of any outcomes from today's final games of the regular season, the Midwest Division champion Griffins will enter the AHL's Calder Cup Playoffs as the Western Conference's No. 3 seed.

As of this writing, Grand Rapids would face No. 6 Oklahoma City in the best-of-five conference quarterfinals, marking the teams' first-ever meeting in the postseason.

The Griffins and Barons met four times this season, with each team winning twice on its home ice. Grand Rapids prevailed on Jan. 4 (5-2) and Jan. 23 (5-4 SO) at Van Andel Arena, before Oklahoma City answered with victories on Feb. 8 (3-4) and Feb. 9 (5-7) at the Cox Convention Center.

The Griffins' opponent for their first-round series will be announced later today, along with the dates of Games 1 and 2 on the road.

Worth Repeating

The Griffins have captured their first division title since 2005-06, the sixth in their history and their fourth as members of the American Hockey League. They are returning to the Calder Cup Playoffs for the first time since 2008-09.
