COREAU REASSIGNED TO TOLEDO
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Detroit Red Wings on Sunday reassigned goaltender Jared Coreau from the Grand Rapids Griffins to the ECHL’s Toledo Walleye.
Coreau, 21, made his professional debut with Grand Rapids in a 3-4 overtime loss to the Toronto Marlies last weekend. Prior to being signed to a three-year entry-level contract by Detroit, the 6-foot-5, 235-pound netminder spent three seasons with Northern Michigan University where he posted a 15-19-4 record, a 2.70 goals against average, a 0.919 save percentage and one shutout after starting in all 38 games during his junior year.
The Griffins (2-0-1-0) will host the Milwaukee Admirals this Friday, Oct. 18 at 7 p.m. for their home opener. Before the puck drops, the team will raise its championship banner to celebrate last year’s Calder Cup victory.
