CONNER BACK TO DETROIT
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Detroit Red Wings on Wednesday recalled right wing Chris Conner from the Grand Rapids Griffins.
Conner, 28, returns to Detroit after being assigned to Grand Rapids on Monday. Despite missing the team’s last 12 contests, Conner sits fourth on the Griffins with 23 points (7-16—23) in 20 games. He led the team in scoring, and was sixth in the AHL, when he was originally recalled on Dec. 1.
A native of Livonia, Mich., Conner has appeared in six games for the Red Wings this season, recording a goal and two assists. He currently holds a three-game point streak that was delayed by a broken hand suffered on Dec. 13 at Pittsburgh.
The Griffins will travel tomorrow to Abbotsford in preparation for two road games against the Heat on Friday and Saturday. Both games start at 10 p.m. EST.
