COMINGS AND GOINGS
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League on Friday announced four player transactions. The Detroit Red Wings today recalled defenseman Kyle Quincey, while Grand Rapids recalled defenseman Cleve Kinley from the ECHL’s Texas Wildcatters and signed goaltender Cody Rudkowsky of the ECHL’s Phoenix Roadrunners to a professional tryout. The Griffins also announced that left wing Josef Fojtik was assigned to the IHL’s Flint Generals on Thursday.
Quincey, 22, could make his first Wings appearance of the season tonight when Detroit hosts the Columbus Blue Jackets at 7:30 p.m. During the 2006-07 campaign, the Kitchener, Ontario, native logged six regular season contests with the parent club, scoring his first NHL goal on April 7, 2007 against Chicago. He also appeared in 13 Stanley Cup playoff games with the Red Wings last spring. Through 45 games with the Griffins this season, Quincey has tallied 10 points (2-8—10) and 86 penalty minutes.
Kinley, 24, appeared in the Griffins’ season opener at Lake Erie on Oct. 6 before being assigned to Texas. Since then, the native of Surrey, British Columbia, has logged 50 games with the Wildcatters, ranking first among their defensemen with 24 points (5-19—24) and tying for fourth overall on the club with a plus-23 rating.
Rudkowsky, 29, logged 10:56 in the Griffins’ crease on Oct. 28 against Peoria, entering in relief of Adam Berkhoel midway through the third period and stopping eight of nine shots before the closing buzzer. Hailing from Willingdon, Alberta, Rudkowsky shows 30 games played with the Roadrunners this season, earning a 9-17-3 record with one shutout, a 3.84 GAA and a 0.900 save percentage.
Both Kinley and Rudkowsky will be available for action tonight when the Griffins battle the Lake Erie Monsters at Van Andel Arena. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
