GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Detroit Red Wings on Wednesday recalled defenseman Kyle Quincey from the Grand Rapids Griffins and assigned center Valtteri Filppula to the American Hockey League club.
Quincey, 21, is tied for first among Griffins defensemen in scoring with four points (1-3—4) in nine games. A second-year pro, he made his NHL debut with the Red Wings on Nov. 25, 2005 at Anaheim, and he’ll be available to play tonight when Detroit hosts Calgary at 7:30.
Filppula, 22, appeared in four games with the Wings since being recalled on Oct. 19, scoring his first NHL goal against Manny Legace in Detroit’s 3-2 win at St. Louis on Oct. 28. He has scored two points (1-1—2) in as many games with Grand Rapids this season, and possesses a 10-game point streak that equals the sixth-longest scoring run in Griffins history.
