CANADA WINS IN A SHOOTOUT, 9-8
Jimmy Howard stopped 11-of-14 shots during the third period but fell to former teammate Drew MacIntyre in the shootout, as the Canadian squad rallied for a 9-8 win over PlanetUSA in Monday's AHL All-Star Classic in Binghamton, N.Y. Jonathan Ericsson earned an assist and finished plus-1.
In Sunday's AHL All-Star Skills Competition, Howard's stellar performance and Ericsson's second place in the Hardest Shot contest helped PlanetUSA to a 15-9 victory. Howard stopped 9-of-10 in Rapid Fire, 2-of-3 in Pass and Score and 4-of-6 in Breakaway Relay, while Ericsson's 100.1 mph blast finished second to only Mark Mancari's 102.8 mph rocket.
