GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Detroit Red Wings on Wednesday assigned right wing Darryl Bootland to the Grand Rapids Griffins.
Bootland, 24, begins his fifth season in Grand Rapids as the franchise record holder for both career penalty minutes (942) and single-season PIM (390 in 2005-06). He enjoyed his most prolific offensive performance last season, contributing 27 goals, 29 assists and 56 points in 77 games, before adding 12 points (5-7—12) in 16 playoff contests.
Bootland, who has totaled 109 points (54-55—109) in a Griffins uniform, also ranks among the team’s all-time leaders with 225 games played (T8th), 54 goals (8th), 12 game-winning goals (T4th), one overtime goal (T6th) and 422 shots (10th).
