BETTER LATE THAN NEVER
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – In honor of National Procrastination Week, the Grand Rapids Griffins on Tuesday finally got around to making a last-minute offer to those who have put off going to Van Andel Arena to see Darren McCarty play for the Griffins.
With Wednesday’s 7 p.m. contest against the Toronto Marlies expected to be McCarty’s final home game with the team, the Griffins are offering free admission to all such procrastinators. The catch? They have to wait until the second intermission to enter the arena.
“Procrastination pays in most situations,” noted Griffins senior vice president of business operations Tim Gortsema, “except, of course, in filing your taxes or changing a diaper. However, it’s never without drawbacks. This is a great last-chance opportunity for fans to see Darren play for the Griffins, even if it’s only for the third period.”
The Van Andel Arena box office will begin providing complimentary tickets upon request at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, and procrastinators will be allowed to pass through the turnstiles at approximately 8:35 p.m. (the estimated start of the second intermission).
For those who want to witness McCarty’s final home game in its entirety, tickets are available at The Zone at Van Andel Arena and all Star Tickets Plus outlets, including Meijer stores. Call 222-4000 / 800-585-3737 or purchase online.
The first 1,500 fans will receive a poster commemorating McCarty’s tenure with the club, courtesy of Delta Imports.
