GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League signed forward Scott Cameron on Friday to a professional tryout.
The 24-year-old left wing has spent the last two seasons playing for the Dayton Bombers of the East Coast Hockey League, posting nine goals and team-highs in assists (20) and points (29) through 23 games in the 2005-06 campaign.
Cameron currently ranks fifth among ECHL scoring leaders in points, and is tied for second in assists. The Valley East, Ontario native also led all Dayton players with a plus-6 rating and 11 points on the power play.
Cameron will be available for action tonight, when the Griffins take on the Rochester Americans in Blue Cross Arena at the Rochester War Memorial. Faceoff is scheduled for 7:35 p.m.
