ANOTHER WINGS PICK JOINS GRIFFINS
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Grand Rapids Griffins on Saturday signed left wing Jan Mursak to an amateur tryout.
The 19-year-old Mursak, Detroit’s fifth selection in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft, signed a three-year entry level contract with the Red Wings earlier this week. A native of Slovenia, he made a great North American debut this season with the Saginaw Spirit of the Ontario Hockey League, logging a team-record 22-game point streak to start the campaign and ranking among the team’s leaders with 27 goals (T3rd), 53 assists (2nd), 80 points (2nd) and a plus-27 rating (2nd) in 62 games.
Mursak, who joins fellow 2006 Detroit pick Cory Emmerton on Grand Rapids’ roster, will be available to play tonight when the Griffins host the Hamilton Bulldogs at 7 p.m.
