ANDERSSON TO MOTOWN
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday recalled center Joakim Andersson from the Grand Rapids Griffins.
A native of Munkedal, Sweden, Andersson has skated in 29 games for the Griffins, ranking fifth on the team with 17 points (8-9—17). The 22-year-old forward has tallied eight goals in his past 15 games after not registering a goal in the Griffins’ first 14 contests.
Andersson, a third round pick (88th overall) of the Red Wings in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, is expected to make his NHL debut tonight when the Red Wings host the St. Louis Blues at 7:30 p.m.
The Griffins will be in action on Wednesday at Lake Erie, taking on the Monsters at 7 p.m. before returning home for a Friday night contest versus the Peoria Rivermen at 7 p.m. and a New Year’s Eve game versus the Milwaukee Admirals at 6 p.m. Tickets are available at griffinshockey.com.
