AMERICANS MOBILIZE AGAINST GRIFFINS, 3-1

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Grand Rapids Griffins were unable to conquer the Rochester Americans Sunday, falling 3-1 at the Blue Cross Arena in the final contest of a three-game road trip.
Bringing an end to a season-high six-game point streak on the road (4-1-0-2), the Griffins visited the Americans for the last time this season in game three of a six game series. The team will return to Van Andel Arena on Wednesday to host a 7 p.m. match up against the Hamilton Bulldogs.
Rochester was first to land on the board, with a shorthanded goal off the stick of Bill Thomas at 13:06 of the opening period. Trailing 1-0 heading into the second, the Griffins responded with their own shorthanded goal by Logan Pyett at 13:24.
Tied at 1-1, the Americans quickly pulled ahead 3-1 with two consecutive goals early in the third. Chris Taylor slipped the puck past Thomas McCollum for the first goal at 6:39, just seconds before Eric Selleck claimed the second at 6:56. Contributing to Grand Rapids' effort, McCollum posted 21 saves while Tyler Plante tallied 46 stops for Rochester.
