Defenseman Anton Johansson joined the Griffins near the end of the season and made his season debut on April 1 at the Rockford IceHogs. The 22-year-old then scored his first AHL goal on April 4 at the Manitoba Moose and finished the regular season with six points (2-4—6), two penalty minutes and a plus-six rating in eight appearances. Johansson added one assist, eight penalty minutes and a minus-two rating in eight playoff games with the Griffins.

Prior to joining Grand Rapids, Johansson competed with Leksands IF in the Swedish Hockey League, producing 17 points (5-12—17) and 49 penalty minutes in 42 regular-season games. During the relegation playoffs in the SHL, Johansson posted 27 penalty minutes in three outings.
