2023-24 Player in Review: Marco Kasper
Center Marco Kasper skated in his first season with the Griffins and totaled 35 points (14-21—35), 30 penalty minutes and a plus-nine rating in 71 regular-season games. He made his AHL debut on Oct. 13 against the Colorado Eagles and later bagged his first goal on Oct. 20 at Colorado. Kasper ranked among the team’s rookie leaders in goals (2nd), assists (T1st), points (2nd), plus-minus rating (1st, 1st among all skaters) and games played (1st, 1st among all skaters). He was named the Howies Hockey Tape/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending on Jan. 21 when he logged five points (3-2—5) in two come-from-behind victories at the Manitoba Moose.
The 20-year-old then went on to rank fourth on the roster during the postseason with seven points (4-3—7) in nine outings, making his Calder Cup Playoffs debut on April 27 at the Rockford IceHogs. He scored his first AHL postseason goal on May 3 against Rockford, which kicked off a three-game point streak (3-2—5). In Game 1 of the Central Division Finals, Kasper registered three points (1-2—3) to help the Griffins claim a 4-2 victory at the Milwaukee Admirals. He also recorded two points (1-1—2) in a must-win Game 4 of the Central Division Finals versus Milwaukee.
