2023-24 Player in Review: Josiah Didier
Defenseman Josiah Didier skated in his first season with the Griffins and was named the 18th captain in franchise history on Oct. 27, making his Griffins debut on Oct. 13 against Colorado. During his first year with the club, the 31-year-old showed eight points (4-4—8), 54 penalty minutes and a plus-six rating in 61 regular-season games. Didier tied his career-high mark of four goals and his plus-six rating tied for second among the team’s defensemen. Didier was named the team’s winner of the IOA/American Specialty AHL Man of the Year award for his outstanding contributions to the Grand Rapids community during the 2023-24 season, becoming the third Griffins captain to be honored with the award, joining Nathan Paetsch (2016-17) and Travis Richards (2003-04).
Didier then posted one assist, four penalty minutes and a minus-five rating in five Calder Cup Playoff games, reaching the Central Division Finals.
