2023-24 Player in Review: Carter Mazur

Right wing Carter Mazur skated in his first full season with the Griffins and led the team’s rookies in points (37) and goals (17), to go along with 20 assists in 60 regular-season games. Mazur also tied for the team lead with six power-play goals and tied for fourth with three game-winners. His 17 goals tied for 14th among AHL rookies, six power-play goals tied for 12th among first-year players, and three game-winners tied for 13th among rookies. 

The 22-year-old made his Calder Cup Playoffs debut on April 27 at the Rockford IceHogs, collecting an assist in the process. He posted a team-best six-game point streak during the playoffs from April 27-May 20 (3-3—6). In his first pro postseason, Mazur tied for second on the roster in points (3-5—8), ranked fourth in goals (3) and tied for first in assists (5) throughout nine postseason outings.

By the Numbers 

7 – Enjoyed seven goals in a nine-game span from Dec. 15-Jan. 10. 

21 – Scored the overtime-winner to clinch second place in the Central Division during the last game of the regular season on April 21 against the Milwaukee Admirals. 

27 – Made his Calder Cup Playoffs debut on April 27 at the Rockford IceHogs, collecting an assist in the process.

6 – Logged a team-best six-game point streak (3-3—6) to begin his pro playoff career from April 27-May 20.   

2 – Posted two assists in a must-win Game 4 of the Central Division Finals against Milwaukee. 

6 – Missed the opening six games of the regular season from Oct. 13-28 due to rehabbing an injury suffered during training camp. He also was sidelined for five straight games from March 20-30. 

1 – Ranked first among the team’s rookies with 37 points and 17 goals. His 17 goals also tied for 14th among the AHL’s first-year players.

2 – Mazur tied for second on the roster in points (3-5—8), ranked fourth in goals (3) and tied for first in assists (5) throughout nine postseason outings.

1 – Mazur tied for the team lead with six power-play goals, which also tied for 12th among the league’s rookies. 

3 – Notched a career-high three points in two separate games on Nov. 15 against the Chicago Wolves (2-1—3) and on March 1 against the Iowa Wild (1-2—3). 

2 – Tied a career-best with two assists on Jan. 19 at Manitoba, March 1 versus Iowa, and on April 3 against Chicago.  

2 – Scored a career-high two goals on Nov. 15 against Chicago.   

4 – Enjoyed a season-high four-game point streak from Dec. 20-31 (4-1—5), which also set a new career high for longest goal streak. 

3 – Career-high three-game assist streak from Feb. 9-13 (0-3—3).  

9 – Accumulated nine multi-point outings in the regular season, including three games with three points. 

5 – Amassed five points (2-3—5) in two games from March 1-2 against Iowa and Rockford. 

10 – Posted a career-high 10 penalty minutes on Nov. 19 against the Toronto Marlies. In the postseason, he totaled 12 penalty minutes on May 1 against Rockford.  

3 – Scored three game-winners throughout the regular season on Dec. 27 at Rockford, Dec. 31 against Cleveland, and on April 21 against Milwaukee.  

122 – Showed 122 shots during the regular season, which ranked fourth on the roster.
