By the numbers
1 – Skating in his rookie season, there were plenty of pro firsts for Smith. He registered his first point (assist) on Nov. 4 at Cleveland, fight on Nov. 28 vs. Chicago and goal on Dec. 7 at Rockford.
+2 – Among the six rookies to suit up for the Griffins in more than eight games this season, Smith was the only one to finish with a positive rating.
3 – Smith recorded a season-high three-game point streak (1-2—3) from March 23-26.
4 – In his first taste of postseason action, Smith appeared in four Calder Cup Playoff games. He was suspended by the AHL for Game 4 of the Central Division Semifinals. Smith picked up an assist in his debut during Game 1 at Chicago.
