Holiday Community Relations Opportunities

Adopt a Local Child or Family for Christmas

Provide a great Christmas for a struggling family, or help a child in counseling, foster care, adoption, or a residential program experience the warmth and wonder of the season. We work with agencies such as D.A. Blodgett St. Johns and Catholic Charities that can provide lists of what is needed if you want to do the shopping. (The cost is approximately $100-$150 per child.) Of course, monetary donations of any amount are welcome, as are donations of any toys/gifts. We can help you direct and customize your gift to make the largest impact.

Ring Bells for The Salvation Army

Partner with a teammate or your significant other to ring bells for The Salvation Army’s iconic Red Kettle Campaign at a grocery store, shopping center or retail store that's convenient to where you live. All funds raised stay in West Michigan to provide a variety of social services. Shifts last 2-3 hours, from either 2-4 p.m. or 4-7 p.m., but can be split into hour-long shifts if we get enough volunteers.

Play with Kids at the Grand Rapids Boys & Girls Club

Visit a local Boys & Girls Club after-school program from 4-5 p.m. to play games like floor hockey and ping-pong with kids and sign autographs. Dates are still to be determined in December and throughout the rest of the season, but since all visitors must complete a background check form in advance, please let us know now if you're interested and we'll get that form to you.
