Griffins Gaining in the Polls
Rise and Shine:
Second-year pro Dominik Shine lit the lamp for the first and second times of the season on Sunday at Cleveland, good for his second career two-goal game.
Z-Score:
The sixth overall selection in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft by Detroit, Filip Zadina banked his second multi-goal game in 11 games in Sunday’s win. He ties for second on the team in goals (4) and fourth in points (7). The 18-year-old is the highest Red Wings draft pick ever to suit up for the Griffins. Only three players in Griffins history were drafted higher than No. 6: Jason Spezza (No. 2 by Ottawa in 2001), Darrin Shannon (No. 4 by Pittsburgh in 1988) and Stephen Weiss (No. 4 by Florida in 2001). Dylan Larkin (selected 15th overall in the 2014 Draft) was the previous highest Red Wings draft selection to play for Grand Rapids.
Add Rybar for Support: Goaltender Patrik Rybar (pronounced REE-bar) has points in his last two starts (1-0-1), showing a 1.44 GAA and a 0.932 save percentage in that span. He picked up his first victory on North American soil in his second career start on Oct. 27 in Belleville after stopping 21 of 22 shots. The 24-year-old led the Czech Extraliga in both GAA (1.73) and shutouts (7) in 36 games with Hradec Kralove last season.

Similar Sateri: Goaltender Harri Sateri has won three of his last four starts after dropping three of his first four to begin the campaign. This follows a similar trend from last season for Sateri when he was with Springfield, as he opened the year with five consecutive losses before claiming five of his next six starts and earning a callup to the Florida Panthers.
Just Getting Started: The Griffins finished their eight October games with a 3-5-0-0, marking the fifth time since 2012-13 the team has concluded the first month at or below 0.500. However, a slow start in October does not appear to correlate to the team’s success in November or beyond. This trend has held true thus far as Grand Rapids is 2-0-0-1 in November so far this season.

Connect Four:
The Griffins are on a season-high four-game point streak (3-0-0-1). After edging out Belleville on Oct. 27 to begin the run, Grand Rapids went toe-to-toe with three of the top teams in the league last weekend to continue its good fortune. The Griffins battled Iowa to a 3-2 shootout loss last Friday, handed Milwaukee only its second regulation loss of the season the next night, and poured in six unanswered third-period goals to take down Cleveland on Sunday. At the time of each individual matchup, Iowa tied for fifth in the Western Conference, Milwaukee led the league in points and Cleveland placed fourth in the Eastern Conference.
No Shots For You: Grand Rapids has surrendered more than 30 shots just twice through the season’s first 11 games and ties for fourth in the AHL in shots against (26.3). The Griffins have outshot eight of 11 opponents so far.
Road Reversal:
After dropping their first four road games and being outscored 17-5 in that stretch, the Griffins have won back-to-back contests on foreign ice and own an 11-5 scoring edge.
Friendly Confines: The Griffins have points in four of their first five home games (3-1-0-1) and are averaging 3.6 goals at Van Andel Arena, compared to 2.7 on enemy ice.

He notched the game-winning goal in Sunday’s come-from-behind triumph at Cleveland and has points in seven of the last eight games (4-3—7). The 196th overall selection in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft by Detroit, Holmstrom ties for fourth on the team in scoring with seven points.
Happy Camper:
Behind a goal and an assist effort on Sunday, first-year Griffin Carter Camper has overtaken Matt Puempel for the team scoring lead with nine points (2-7—9). The eighth-year pro has points in five of his last six outings.
Puemped Up:
Second-year Griffin Matt Puempel ties for second on the club in points (4-4—8) and his three multi-point outings tie with Carter Camper for the team’s most.
Terr-ing It Up: The AHL’s leading scorer from a season ago, Chris Terry has three goals among four points in the last four games. His five markers are tops on the squad.
Pick Ehn Up Points: Skating in his first season in North America, Christoffer Ehn has scooped up back-to-back multi-point outings. He generated his first North American pro goal and added an assist in last Saturday’s win vs. Milwaukee and provided a pair of assists on Sunday at Cleveland. Detroit’s third choice, 106th overall, in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft, Ehn has one assist in nine games with the Red Wings this season.
Grand Rapids Griffins' six-goal third period
Status Update: The Grand Rapids Griffins have points in four consecutive games (3-0-0-1) and have evened up their record at 5-5-0-1. Grand Rapids took five out of a possible six points during last weekend’s three-in-three. The Griffins will make their second trip of the season to Canada this week when they head to Winnipeg to face the Manitoba Moose on Thursday and Saturday.
