SNIPERS SUMMONED FROM STORM, FURY
Forwards Available for Todays Matinee Versus Manitoba
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. The Grand Rapids Griffins on Tuesday recalled forwards Todd Jackson from the ECHLs Toledo Storm and Ryan Keller from the Muskegon Fury of the United Hockey League. Both players are expected to be in the lineup at noon today when the Griffins host the Manitoba Moose for their fifth annual matinee game.
Jackson, 24, has been one of the ECHLs top scorers thus far in 2005-06, tying for fifth in the league scoring race with 16 points (6-1016) in 10 games. His goal, assist and point totals all rank second on the Storm, and hes contributed four power play goals and a team-high three game-winners as well.
Detroits tenth choice in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, Jackson notched two assists in 30 games with the Griffins as a rookie last year. He joined the Storm midseason and exploded for 25 points (12-1325) in 35 games.
Keller, a 21-year-old rookie, signed a two-way contract with Grand Rapids and Muskegon on Oct. 4. While helping lead the Fury to a 9-0-0 start, he has paced all UHL rookies with 10 assists, 18 points and four power play goals. Keller stands among the leagues overall leaders in goals (8, T5th), points (T3rd), power play goals (T4th) and shorthanded goals (2, T3rd).
Last season, during his final major junior campaign with Saskatoon of the Western Hockey League, Keller contributed team-highs with 40 goals and 73 points (40-3373) in 67 outings.
