GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Per Ledin scored twice to lead Lake Erie to a 4-2 victory over the Grand Rapids Griffins on Saturday, making the Monsters the only team this season to claim a pair of regulation wins at Van Andel Arena.

Grand Rapids owned a commanding 33-18 advantage in shots for the game, but Garden City, Mich., native Jason Bacashihua made 31 saves to help the visitors to their second road win in as many nights against a second-place team, following the Monsters’ 3-1 win at Rockford on Friday.

The Griffins (33-14-6-5) will complete their 3-in-3 at home and play their fourth game in less than five days on Sunday, when they host the San Antonio Rampage and former head coach Greg Ireland at 4 p.m.

The teams traded goals early in the opening period, with Ledin popping home a carom off the iron from the right circle during a power play at 4:27. Francis Pare and Francis Lemieux then teamed up for a beautiful give-and-go goal 3:30 later, when Pare put Lemieux’s return pass behind Bacashihua from the left side.

The Monsters’ Mike Vernace accounted for the only goal of the middle frame, speeding down the right wing and ripping a shot over Daniel Larsson’s glove from the half wall at the 11:50 mark.

Midway through the third period, Ledin pushed Lake Erie’s advantage to 3-1 with a wicked shot from the slot at 10:46. Garrett Stafford threw a puck on net from the far edge of the left circle that managed to sneak by Bacashihua at the 16:02 mark, giving the Griffins life in the waning minutes, but Philippe Dupuis beat Larsson on a breakaway with 58 seconds remaining the seal the outcome.

Larsson made 14 saves while suffering just his fourth regulation loss of the season.

Three Stars: 1. LE Ledin (two goals); 2. LE Bacashihua (W, 31 saves); 3. GR Pare (goal, assist)
