MOSS GATHERS EVERY SHOT IN EDMONTON'S 2-0 WIN

Mar 18, 2005
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. Former Griffin Tyler Moss made 36 saves on Friday to lead the Edmonton Road Runners to their third win in as many tries against Grand Rapids this season, a 2-0 whitewashing at Van Andel Arena.

Moss shutout was his second versus the Griffins this year and his fourth in a span of eight games against them over the last two seasons. His five career shutouts against Grand Rapids are two more than any other opposing goalie has earned.

The Griffins (31-29-2-1), who lost in regulation at home for just the second time in their last seven outings, will travel to Chicago on Saturday for their final meeting of the season against the Wolves. The game will be televised live at 8 p.m. across Michigan on Comcast Local.

The Road Runners (28-24-4-10) netted their first goal at the 12:23 mark of the opening period, when Brent Henley knocked home a Kyle Brodziak pass from the doorstep.

The Griffins could not capitalize on several early power plays, including a 5-on-3 advantage for 1:18, despite enjoying five chances before the games midpoint. Those missed opportunities proved even more costly at 10:52 of the second period, when Nate DiCasmirro beat his man in the left circle, drew Joey MacDonald out of the net and slipped a sharp-angle shot into the cage for a 2-0 Edmonton lead.

It was the Tyler Moss show from that point on, as the Griffins suffered their ninth shutout, one shy of the franchise record set in 2001-02. For his part, MacDonald finished with 24 stops but found himself on the short end of a shutout performance for the eighth time this season.

In a tribute to the classic hockey movie Slap Shot, the Griffins wore commemorative Charlestown Chiefs jerseys that generated $11,725 for the ALS Association West Michigan Chapter during a post-game auction. Darryl Bootlands sweater garnered a high bid of $900, while Travis Richards and Blake Sloans each went for $800.
