METRO HEALTH SPORTS MEDICINE: KEEPING YOU AT THE TOP OF YOUR GAME
Metro Health Sports Medicine is the official medical provider for the Grand Rapids Griffins and countless other athletes and active individuals. This dedicated team is now based inside the Spartan Stores YMCA in Metro Health Village in Wyoming, Mich. There you’ll find sports medicine physicians, orthopedic surgeons and physical therapists all working together to keep people of all ages and skill levels at the top of their games.
“We’re not just for athletes,” says Metro Health sports medicine director Dr. Edwin Kornoelje. “We treat everyone who moves – from weekend warriors, to soccer moms and soccer kids, to folks returning to exercise after years of inactivity, to high school and college athletes, to elite marathon runners and more.
“Our services are about wellness. We focus on getting people back to doing what they want or need to do, whether that’s running races, shooting hoops with friends, or putting laundry in the washing machine and dryer.”
For more than 15 years, Metro Health’s sports medicine team has worked with area high school, college and professional teams. They also provide medical coverage at area events such as the Fifth Third River Bank Run, the Metro Health Grand Rapids Marathon and more.
Services at the Metro Health Sports Medicine Center include:
• Sports related primary care
• Sports physicals
• Physical therapy
• Surgical consultations/follow up
• Injury evaluation and treatment
• Nutrition counseling
• Concussion testing
• Orthotics
• Digital X-rays
• Massage therapy
• Diagnostic ultrasound

Because the providers want people to be able to resume their normal activities as fast as possible, they will offer same-day appointments for most services. Find information about Metro Health Sports Medicine at metrohealth.net.
