Frkin’ Right: Also assigned by Detroit last Thursday after clearing waivers, Martin Frk made his first appearance with the Griffins last weekend since he scored the winning goal in the third period in Game 6 of the 2017 Calder Cup Finals. He picked up a pair of assists on Friday and notched an assist to go along with the game-tying goal on Saturday.

You’re a Wizard, Harri: Harri Sateri has won seven of his last nine starts, showing a 1.78 GAA and a 0.938 save percentage (240 of 256) in that span. His 2.21 GAA in the new year ties for ninth among goalies with 400 or more minutes in that time frame. The Finnish netminder has points in 16 of his last 20 outings (14-4-2) and in 11 of his last 14 (10-3-1). Sateri’s 18 wins on the season, which matches his AHL career best (2013-14 with Worcester), tie for fifth in the league.

Rybar Supports: Patrik Rybar has points in eight of his last 10 games (6-2-2) and shows a 2.06 GAA and a 0.928 save percentage with one shutout in that span. In his last two appearances, he’s stopped 66 of 69 shots (0.957). Rybar leads the AHL with a 2.31 overall GAA.

Dennis the Menace: Assigned by the Red Wings last Thursday, rookie defenseman Dennis Cholowski tallied an assist in both games last weekend. He picked up a power play helper on Wade Megan’s game-winning goal on Friday and the secondary assist on Martin Frk’s game-tying marker with 24 seconds left in regulation on Saturday. The 21-year-old’s combined plus-six rating for the two games was a team-high.

Wade For It: Wade Megan notched his second career hat trick (Dec. 28, 2016, CHI at RFD) last Friday, and it also marked the first three-goal game by a Griffin since Colin Campbell on April 14, 2018 vs. CLE. In 16 GP in 2019, Megan leads Grand Rapids in points (16), goals (9) and plus-minus (+10), while placing second in assists (7).

30 and Counting: Following Saturday night’s win against San Antonio, the Griffins became the fifth team in the league, and second in the Western Conference, to reach 30 victories. Grand Rapids has achieved 30 Ws or more in its first 53 games for the sixth time in the last seven seasons.

Road Trippin’: After a four-game winless stretch on the road (0-3-1-0) from Dec. 7-16, the Griffins have points in seven of their last 10 on foreign ice (5-3-1-1) and are a +3 in goal differential in that span. Grand Rapids will play 14 of its final 21 games in enemy territory, including a season-high six-game road swing from March 16-26.
