2018-19 in Review: Chase Pearson
Center Chase Pearson recorded 29 points (16-13—29) during his junior season at the University of Maine to cap off a three-year collegiate career before joining the Griffins at the end of the campaign and producing two goals in 10 games.

7 – Pearson is the seventh player from the University of Maine to have suited up for the Griffins. He joins fellow Black Bears Jimmy Howard (Griffin from 2005-09; 16-17), Todd Jackson (2004-06), Doug Janik (2009-12), Gustav Nyquist (2010-14), Dan Renouf (2015-18) and Bobby Stewart (2000-01).
10 – In his first taste of professional hockey, Pearson appeared in 10 games with the Griffins and tallied two goals. He made his debut on March 23 at Texas and scored his first goal during his third game on March 29 vs. Chicago. Both of his goals came at Van Andel Arena as he added his second on April 10 vs. Iowa.
140 – Pearson was selected in the fifth round, 140th overall, by Detroit in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft. Pearson joined defenseman Vili Saarijarvi (73rd overall) as members of the Red Wings’ 2015 draft class to play for Grand Rapids in 2018-19. On March 18, the Red Wings signed Pearson to a two-year entry-level contract that will begin with the 2019-20 season. He joined the Griffins after signing an amateur tryout with the team on March 20.
16 – As a junior, Pearson led Maine with 16 goals, five power play goals and a plus-21 rating. He also ranked among the Black Bears’ leaders with 29 points (2nd), 13 assists (3rd) and 99 shots on goal (2nd). Pearson’s 16 goals and 29 points marked collegiate career highs.
14 – Pearson totaled 20 points (10-10—22) in 22 games during conference play, ranking 14th in Hockey East in points and tying for fifth in goals.
78 – Pearson’s three-year career at the University of Maine saw him accumulate 78 points (37-41—78), a plus-18 rating and 132 PIM in 107 games. He served as captain during his sophomore and junior campaigns.
292 – Chase’s father, Scott Pearson, appeared in 292 NHL games with the Toronto Maple Leafs, Quebec Nordiques, Edmonton Oilers, Buffalo Sabres and New York Islanders during a professional career that spanned from 1988-00.
