Marcus Kinney begins his fifth season as strength and conditioning coordinator for the reigning Calder Cup champion Griffins.
A U.S. Army veteran, Kinney received a bachelor’s degree in sports medicine and athletic training from Wilmington College in 1996 and obtained his master’s degree in athletic coaching education from West Virginia University in 1997.
Kinney, who has been a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association for more than 17 years, has experience in strength and conditioning coaching with the U.S. Naval Academy (1998-2000), Kansas State University (2000-2004), WVU (2004-2007) and the University of Tulsa (2007-2008). He also serves as Barwis Methods’ Grand Rapids director of operations and head strength coach.
Kinney and his wife, Dawn, have six children: Tyler, Cameron, Isaiah, Brennan, Elijah and Lindsey.
