Strength and Conditioning Coordinator
Marcus Kinney begins his sixth season as strength and conditioning coordinator for Griffins, having helped the team earn the 2017 Calder Cup along with playoff appearances during each year of his tenure.
A U.S. Army veteran, Kinney received a bachelor’s degree in sports medicine and athletic training from Wilmington College in 1996 and obtained his master’s degree in athletic coaching education from West Virginia University in 1997.
Kinney, who has been a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association for more than 18 years, has experience in strength and conditioning coaching with the U.S. Naval Academy (1998-2000), Kansas State University (2000-2004), WVU (2004-2007) and the University of Tulsa (2007-2008). He also serves as Barwis Methods’ Grand Rapids director of operations and head strength coach.
Kinney and his wife, Dawn, have six children: Tyler, Cameron, Isaiah, Brennan, Elijah and Lindsey.
