The Red Wings name Ben Simon the new head coach of the Griffins. He becomes the 11th head coach in franchise history after serving the previous three seasons as an assistant in Grand Rapids under Todd Nelson and helping the Griffins win the club’s second Calder Cup in 2017. (Photos)

Tomas Jurco finishes off a wild, back-and-forth contest by scoring the game-winning goal with 6:12 remaining, as the Griffins defeat Oklahoma City 5-4 in Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals. Grand Rapids advances to face Syracuse in its first Calder Cup Finals and its first championship series appearance since the 2000 IHL Turner Cup Finals. (Photos)
